This is a small rural campsite owned and operated by the Scout Association Isle of Man for the benefit of its members. This site is also used by numerous local and National Youth Groups.
This suits smaller groups of up to approx. 30
The Site is approx. 3 Acres spread over multiple levels in a wooded glen with a river running along the bottom edge.
The river is not particularly deep or fast unless there has been bad weather but must be considered in your risk assessments. Site is not known to flood.
As you approach the site up the short drive you will pass our abseiling platform and arrive at the turning circle / parking. The driveway forms part of a public footpath with turns up through the upper site. Car parking on site is limited so if unsure please check site before proceeding up drive.
On the upper level we have our toilet block with male and female toilets and showers along with a store and sinks areas for catering, there are however no fixed cooking facilities. Beyond this we have another grass area that suits camping and will take 4 tents depending on size, This area can also used as an archery range and we have a hall, this has an upper balcony area that can sleep 4 – 6 adults and lower hall which is approximately 6 x 7m this also has an indoor traversing wall. Indoor can be used for sleeping if required.
Of the path down site, we have access to our lower stores along with access to our outdoor climbing wall and accessible wall / ramp for abseiling. Below this we have our tomahawk throwing range.
On the lower site is a ruined mill where you can have a campfire in the fire basket this is surrounded by 3 flat areas that suit camping, the fist to the left of the ruin can take 4 – 6 tents and doubles as an archery range, can get approx. 6 – 8 tents on the larger area to the right of ruin and above the ruin is a smaller area will suit 1 – 2 tents all depending on size.
Mobile signal can be patchy on site but there is generally some signal around the raised flower beds at top and by the gate please bear this in mind for your emergency procedures. W3W for the site entrance is ///aces.invitations.pass
